About us

Bridging physical + digital worlds

CHROMAKAIROS makes artisan objects that open digital worlds.

Our studio initially built websites and wayfinding solutions for universities, designers, and cultural associations. We found ourselves frustrated by a simple reality of modern life: relying on links and QR codes, the entry point to even the most elegant digital experiences is clunky and forgettable, easy to lose in the tide of digital information that constantly washes over us.

Our brains didn’t evolve for this. They evolved for information bound to space and time: objects you can hold and places you traverse.

So we started building portals that work differently: physical objects that contain digital experiences, thanks to the inclusion of a small chip of digital memory (NFC). Along the way, we’ve learned even more about how to design to leverage the strengths of human memory and attention, rather than capitalize on their weaknesses. We’ve developed custom commemorative objects for fashion brands, cultural institutions, and arts organizations, and are proud to now be able to offer our services to individual artists and designers seeking to create custom limited editions of their own.

CHROMAKAIROS is based in Milan, working with a trusted network of local artisans, production partners, and creative collaborators.

About the founder

Jenny Filipetti, the founder of CHROMAKAIROS, has been building in both digital and physical worlds since the modem years. Her expertise at the intersection of wayfinding design and technology has seen her design and consult on creative technology projects throughout the US and Italy, including overseeing the design and direction of creative technology learning spaces for the Auraria Library, working on interactive activations for Ray-Ban and the Immersive Design Summit, leading human-centered design partnerships at the University of Colorado Inworks innovation initiative, supporting exhibition design strategy at Palazzo Morando and the Denver Art Museum, and curating technology content for millions of international readers at designboom.

She founded CHROMAKAIROS in 2023, applying these insights to the creation of artisan objects that open digital worlds… and reinjecting some of the magic of the early internet into contemporary design.

How it Works

We create physical objects that have a chip of digital memory inside. Just scan with your smartphone to open websites and more.

You don’t need to know anything about technology to have an idea you’d like to share. CHROMAKAIROS makes it easy for you to share digital experiences via physical objects. Let us handle the tech so you can focus on the experience you want to cultivate.
