Interactive daily ritual design

CHROMAKAIROS developed a digital experience that explores how machine intelligence can participate in symbolic systems traditionally shaped by human interpretation.

The tarot reader can be accessed only by tapping one’s phone to a dedicated object. In different installations, we’ve experimented with printed cards, stone talismans, and more.

We created two interactive experiences:

I. The web app presents the visual of a single tarot card to the viewer from among a New Arcana deck, developed in collaboration with multiple AI systems to represent a synthesis of human, plant, mineral, and technological intelligences. Interaction is intentionally minimal: the user can click on the card to flip it over to see its name and connotations. Readings reset at midnight local time, reinforcing a temporal rhythm that encourages return visits and positions the experience as a daily ritual rather than a static archive.

II. An Instagram filter borrowed the familiar card-spinning interaction above the user’s head, cycling through the deck before resolving on a single card. At the moment of selection, the chosen card also became the user’s background, transforming the user’s surrounding environment into the card’s visual world. This experience sunsetted in January 2025 when Meta removed all user-generated filters.
